Medical Nutrition Therapy

Medical Nutrition Therapy

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is a therapeutic approach to treating medical conditions and their associated symptoms through the use of evidence-based medical nutrition therapy (MNT). A key aspect of MNT is that a dietitian will translate nutritional science into dietary recommendations that you can implement to affect and impact a medical condition or chronic disease that you are concerned about. Your dietitian will also monitor the success of implementing the recommended dietary guidance and will make adjustments to the therapy as needed, to make sure you are supported in achieving your health goals

Key Components of MNT

1) In-Depth Assessment

Nutritional Assessment:
Comprehensive evaluation of your dietary intake, medical history, lifestyle factors,  nutritional status, laboratory reports, and other pertinent information.

Measurements, testing, and nutritional analysis.

2) Evidence-Based Nutrition-Related Diagnosis

Nutritional Diagnosis: Identification of specific nutrition-related problems based on the assessment data, using standardized terminology from the accredited  Nutrition Care Process (NCP).

3) Effective Interventions

Dietary Modifications:
Development of individualized nutrition plans tailored to your specific needs, including macronutrient and micronutrient recommendations, whole food guidance, and supplementation suggestions as indicated. Modifications are planned to impact the condition or disease you are concerned about.

Nutrition Education and Counseling:
Our dietitians provide evidence-based nutrition information and clinical guidance to help patients understand and manage their conditions through nutrition and lifestyle changes.

Behavioral Strategies:
We also support behavior change through goal setting, self-monitoring, and motivational interviewing to ensure successful outcomes.

4) Supportive Care – Monitoring and Evaluation

Regular Follow-Up:
Research shows that scheduled check-ins to assess progress, make necessary adjustments to the nutrition plan, and provide ongoing support ensure the success of treatment. We are committed to supporting you through all circumstances in your health journey.

Outcome Monitoring:
We continually evaluate the effectiveness of our recommendations and interventions through monitoring outcomes through lab work, anthropometric measurements, and overall health improvements.

5) Coordination of Care

Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
We work with your healthcare providers to ensure a comprehensive approach to your care, including sharing relevant information at your request and integrating MNT into the overall treatment plan.

Patient and Family Involvement:
We will engage with you and your family as requested in the care process to provide enhanced support as needed.

These components work together to create a holistic approach to managing and improving health outcomes through nutrition.
